چکیده

A patient, CAL, with gamma heavy chain disease is presented who has had a complete remission lasting over 2 yr with combination chemotherapy consisting of pulsatile cyclophosphamide and prednisone. The patient exhibited many features of an autoimmune process including a vasculitis, low serum complement levels, a positive antiglobulin (Coombs) test, Raynaud’s phenomenon, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca. The CAL paraprotein was found to have several previously undescribed characteristics. It reacted with antisera to Fd, Fab, and Fab’, suggesting that most of the Fd portion of the molecule was intact. CAL protein consists of two polypeptide chains of molecular weight 49,000 covalently linked to form a dimer of 95,000 molecular weight. The covalent linkage suggests that the hinge region of this gamma1 heavy chain is intact.

Rapid evolution in the immunochemical findings of a gamma heavy chain disease.

We noted the following major immunochemical changes in the final course of a gamma heavy-chain disease associated with a myelomonocytic leukemia: an important oligoclonal increase of IgG1/kappa, during sepsis development, whereas the lambda molecules decreased and IgG2 and IgG3 completely disappeared in a one-month interval. Initial concentrations of IgG4 were stable during that period, and gam...

Gamma heavy chain disease simulating alpha chain disease.

A young Turkish girl presented with all the clinicopathological features of a digestive form of alpha chain disease. A gamma heavy chain disease protein, however, was found in her serum and also in the cells invading the intestinal mucosa and mesenteric lymph nodes.

Further studies on an eleventh case of heavy (Hgamma1) chain disease--biosynthetic studies.

In vitro quantitative biosynthetic studies were carried out on bone marrow cells obtained from an eleventh case with gamma heavy chain disease. The findings indicate that neither cytoplasmic nor extracellular degradation was responsible for the presence of the gamma heavy chain fragment in serum. The absence of a covalent-bound light chain was also confirmed.

Gamma heavy chain disease in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis – a laboratory evaluation

INTRODUCTION Heavy chain diseases (HCD) are neoplastic proliferations of B cells which secrete truncated immunoglobulin heavy chains without associated light chains. Being rare and probably underdiagnosed diseases the aim of this report is to show an additional case of gamma heavy chain disease in a 48 year old female patient with rheumatoid arthritis focusing on the laboratory presentation. ...
